Vehicle transfer into AZ
Hopefully, Azerbaijan will eventually open land borders again and this section will become obsolete. But until then, this is what we can share...

Caspian Sea Ferry
The only way to avoid driving through Russia (which we refuse to do these days) or through Iran (also not an option currently) is to take a ferry across the Caspian Sea. We did so from Alat to Turkmenbashi, there are also ships going between Alat and Aktau (which we'll use when on the westward part of our journey).
